The English sentence can contain more than one word. For instance, if I asked you to find a rabbit and told you to go to your local grocery store, you might say; go to the grocery store; go to your grocery store. In fact, the sentence above contains two words – grocery store and grocery. However, if you told me to go to the local grocery store and I told you to find a rabbit, I would say; find a rabbit; find a rabbit; find a rabbit. These words are interspersed with each other.

To help students understand that they need to use the words in order to complete sentences correctly, the phrase language in the sentence comes into play. The English language is divided into three major categories, nouns, verbs and objects. An object is something that an English speaker knows or refers to.

Now the next tip for writing sentences involves using the subject in the sentence. This is very useful for English writing. In the previous sentence, the subject is the grocery store. You know what a grocery store is because you shop there. However, the object is the rabbit. Your English-speaking student is likely to associate the rabbit with the grocery store and the store with the rabbit.

When you write English as a second language, the verb is also important. If you are writing the sentence as a question, you will include the object in the object sentence. and the subject in the subject sentence. This type of sentence structure is called an imperative.

Another good way to teach students to complete sentences is through example. To help students grasp of English grammar, show them how to form sentences using specific English verbs, nouns and objects. Then, tell them the verb in the subject of the sentence. Once they learn that, they can complete the sentence themselves by thinking of the verb in the subject.
